Series of 20 drawings, pin pricked paper, 594 x 840mm
The designs of the artists’ own contemporary lace underwear are drawn using pin pricks, making a direct reference to ‘prickings’ the traditional templates used in the production of hand-made bobbin lace. Before industrialisation, lace was an expensive commodity and valuable asset, made exclusively by low paid female workforce, and worn by those at the opposite end of the social and economic scale.
